Gita teachers are living and teaching all over the world!
Gita Teachers' Guild
The Gita Teachers' Guild is the Professional Association of all Gita trained teachers. Only teachers who have completed the Gita Gold Diploma Teacher Training Course may join the Guild. The Guild is a support network for teachers, providing nurturing and ongoing training via Post Graduate Courses. It provides a forum for discussion on topics of interest, teachers' concerns and aspects of health or students’ problems, as well as networking for classes and locums. The Guild also provides access to insurance at very competitive rates, references and advice and support for teachers in the field. The Guild is the teacher’s spiritual family, which we draw upon for support and nurturing. It is a fantastic network which spans the globe.
The Guild also provides ongoing learning for Gita teachers in the form of major Post Graduate Courses (e.g. Teaching Progressive Yoga Relaxation, Counselling, Pre-Natal) and Workshops.
Guild members are also regularly updated with DVDs of the Teacher Training Course segments, articles and research applicable to yoga teaching.
There are 3-4 Guild meetings per year that coincide with the start of school terms and which include the Teachers’ Communion that sets the scene for the energies ahead.

Christmas Miscellany
ATMA - Australian Teachers of Meditation Association has recently been formed to represent the various styles and teachers of meditation in Australia.
Similar to the YTAA its aim is to be a representative body setting and upholding minimum standards for training and qualifications.
As Meditation is such a popular 'prescription' for many peoples problems there is a need to ensure that it is taught ethically and with deep knowledge and understanding. As more people are referred to Meditation by the medical profession, there is the possibility of medical rebate and health fund involvement. For this to be approved meditation Teacher have to be able to show they are aware of the issues and pitfalls in Meditation. Currently Membership is open to all suitable applicants who fulfil the criteria. The newly elected interim board will shortly commence work on minimum standards, qualifications and experience for future applicants.
If you are interested in becoming a member the application form and other information is available on their web site.
NB. Lucille is currently Secretary/treasurer, so all information for ATMA is c/o GITA.
Testimonials
What motivated your choice and major commitment to become a Gita qualified teacher?
First of all, I never thought in a million years that I would become a Gita qualified teacher and decide to teach. It’s amazing how people change! Today there is nothing more I want to do, for the following reasons: The world needs it, (that is what brought me to Gita in the first place). Teaching Yoga and all the Esoteric learnings/Wisdoms that come with it, is very fulfilling to say the least and being able to share this Universal Knowledge with people (to teach, to inspire, to show the way) to make the world a nicer place. Teaching formally on a podium (on a personal level) allows me to be ME and to be able to share that with people (love, wisdom, power) to operate at SOUL LEVEL is amazing. This will hopefully inspire others to do the same.
THEO TSIANAKAS
Unable to find a yoga class that I enjoyed and found informative or inspiring. I decided that if I was going to find a class that measured up, I was going to have to run it myself! Started as a joke. . . gradually become why not’?
MARCIA KEMPE
Observing the thoughtful, calm, loving nature of the other Teachers and Teacher Trainees, before I began. Realising that an inner world was being nurtured by Gita who teach yoga's truth. I wanted that!
JOHN MOFFAT
I have come to realise that in order to help others, we must first help ourselves, work on ourselves physically, mentally, emotionally in order to find our own truths to share with others.
The choice to teach does not limit the learning to the 'yoga studio' or'class room' but in the way we live and carry ourselves.
THE GITA SUITE OF POST GRADUate courses for yoga teachers
1. TEACHING PROGRESSIVE YOGA RELAXATION
.The classic Course exploring the role of deep progressive Relaxation in
healing and emotional Wellness. An in depth exploration of the how's
and why's, plus insights and counselling skills to deal with the
results of “deep Cleansing”.
2. TEACHING MEDITATION
Meditation is the current buzzword and “fix all” for everything,
according to the latest reports from America. What is it ? How does it
work ? How do we know? Drawing on our yoga heritage and experiences,
this Course explores the various types of meditation and the
difficulties people experience, along with some insights and solutions.
3. TEACHING THE HIDDEN WISDOMS IN YOGIC PHILOSOPHY
The difficulties and pressures of life today push people to ask the why questions - why me? why now why this?
The Eternal Wisdom teachings have held the answers down through the
ages for those who are ready to explore and learn from them. This
Course is for teachers who are ready to go beyond the physicality of
Hatha Yoga teaching and introduce their students to the basics of the
deeper aspects of Yogic philosophy.
4. TEACHING PRANAYAMA
The art of breathing is all but lost - along with the wealth of
information and understandings that underpin conscious, effective
breathing. Explore the wisdom, behind the breath and distribution of
prana and unlock the health and vitality it holds. This Course includes
familiar and lesser known pranayama and how to teach them effectively.
5. TEACHING YOGA TO CHILDREN
This Course, based on Di's many years of experience is far more than
creating an interesting and entertaining Yoga program suitable for
children. It explores the Spiritual connections, the hormonal changes
and the Soul’s purpose for this life, as well as acknowledging the age
related needs, developmental stages and changes.
6. TEACHING PRE NATAL YOGA
Teaching Pre-Natal is about nurturing the incoming Soul and its chosen
parents. It is about balancing the hormones as the body builds a new
life within the mother. It is about supporting the partnership and the
changing roles within it. All this and more - including suitable
postures and pranayamas for the mother to be!
7. ANATOMY, PHYSIOLOGY AND HEALTH FOR TEACHERS
Many of our students will have no idea what is inside their skin! To be
able to teach with a clear understanding of the body structure and
mechanics, enriches our students ability to enjoy their yoga. Learn how
to enrich that experience with a knowledge of the energies and forces
which empower and vitalise the body. We are more then we appear be!
Explore this, and more,as we draw on the ancient yogic texts and modern
scientific research in this ‘full-on' Course.
8. ETHICS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KARMA FOR TEACHERS
In a world fraught with litigation and challenge, it is vital that
teachers understand their role clearly. This relates to our Spiritual
responsibilities as well, especially as Karma continues from life to
life and difficulties experienced now, or in the future, may well be
related to our past actions!
9. TECHNIQUES FOR TEACHING IN A CHANGING WORLD
Boardrooms, school gyms, and many other class settings create
challenges for teachers, never experienced before. How to handle the
visually impaired or physically limited student? How to deal with the
interruptions and noise of thoughtless neighbours? How to handle
students’ questions and challenges. To teach effectively in a changing
and challenging world is our aim!
10. THE HIDDEN WISDOMS IN YOGIC PHILOSOPHY
The question is often asked ”Just what is the Philosophy behind the
Yoga? What is the theory, the thinking, the deeper wisdoms which
underpin this age old way of living?” Understanding the ‘why’ of
something always enriches us and helps us to improve the ‘how to’s’.
Join us for this overview and insight into the deeper teachings in yoga.
